The Whirlpool

Maniacal eyes pierce the darkness

Immobilizing his prey

The Whirlpool waits patiently, patiently

Slowly sucking, sucking

Icy fingers outstretched

Pulling, pulling

Dragging him closer and closer

To be devoured

And to face the wrath of this forgotten fiend.

By Jonathan 6D

The Strangler Vine

The strangler vine seeks his prey

Slowly advancing, spreading, growing

Emerging from the forest floor

Growing, engulfing, enveloping

Into the canopy he climbs

Tightening, squeezing

The mortal tree is crippled, he groans in pain

Crushing, suffocating

The deed is nearly done

Closing, restricting

The deadly embrace ends

Murder in the Amazon

By Lachlan 6D

The Plant

Sulkily the plant

Crouched – with its blood-curdling movement

Begins creeping, creeping

Sulkily the plant

Mad with hunger

Climbing, climbing

Sulkily the plant

Into the shadows it goes

With no purpose at all

Sulkily the plant

Continues its searching

Reaching, reaching

Sulkily the plant-

An old lady searching her lost one

The Sea

The trees sway playfully

Pointing their green fingers towards the beach

Where waves roll on the sand

Towards the high rocks it can’t reach

They pull back with all their might

And thrust blue hands forth with a shout

With disappointment they wait

Till high tide will come out

The sea waits patiently

Though the cliff face is sneering

The waves will break it someday

And remove all that is adhering

Up on the teasing cliff

The trees still sway

Watching their perch

Teasing the water like every other day

Phillip's Story

Bound for Virginia

Got torpedoed on the way

Landed on a raft

Heading for dismay

Everything was black

I think I was blind

Next to me there was a man

He was not very kind

Almost got eaten by sharks

He saw an island it was true

I loved being on land

But I couldn’t be more blue.

The Car

The car gives a growl

And sets off.

Through the gate,

Round and around the

Roundabout it goes, and

Soon its gets dizzy!

Down the road it jumps,

Soon it gives a squeal of pain.

Panting like a dog,

It gets pushed.

With a burst of laughter,

It chugs off again,

Like a child given a can of Coke!

Mrs Davies the Bat and the Fly

One sunny day,
Mrs Davies saw a fly.
She got hold of a bat
And watched it fly by.

‘Drat!’ She thought,
‘I have to kill it!’
She got into position
And with that she hit it.

‘Yes!’ She thought
‘Victory at last’
She thought she would celebrate
But the fly flew past.

‘What?’ Mrs Davies cried
‘I thought it was dead!’
It buzzed around
And landed on her head.

As tired as a wombat,
Mrs Davies took a leap;
The fly was happily buzzing
And Mrs Davies fell asleep.

Mum, the Cloth and the Bee

Yesterday morning,
I woke up to see,
My poor mother chasing,
A small bumble bee.

It was out in the lounge room,
Flying around,
While my mother kept tripping,
And hitting the ground.

“It’s hopeless,” she cried,
“I’m as slow as a sloth!”
So she turned on the tap,
And pulled out a cloth.

Once the cloth,
Was as wet as the sea,
She ran right back,
And aimed at the bee.

It hurled through the air,
That soaking cloth,
It took out the bee,
And it took out a moth.

The deed was done!
We had slaughtered the bee!
But was it really dead?
We shall wait and see…

Mum, Dad and the tea

This morning my dad
Was making some tea
My mummy said,
“Can you make one for me?”

So my dad and my mum
Were drinking some tea
Dad said, “Love have you
Seen my car keys?”

Then I came downstairs
While holding the keys
And I asked my dad
“Are you looking for these?”

Dad then went to work
As fast as could be
Because he was late
From drinking his tea

So dad went to work
And mum came to me
“Hey Timmy my boy”
Would you like to have tea?”

The Classroom

In the classroom the pencil case opens,

Out jumps the ruler, pens and sharpener,

With great care the calculator is seized,

It is worried about losing its batteries,

But remembers that it is solar powered

The bell rings and the children like a herd of elephants

run towards the door,

In the school bag the drink bottle is sweating

because it is nervous of its first day at school,

It is scared that it will leak.

When the class arrives back from recess the sharpener got a little hungry and like telepathy the child sharpened a pencil for the sharpener

When the end of school bell rang the stationary were all happy and excited to come back the next day

The sun rose up and the moon went down to see the wonderful stationary in sight

The Thunderstorm

The Thunderstorm is angry,

He roars all day and night.

Booming across the land,

In a rage while his voice echoes.

Punishing every human

 With thunder bolts.

Causing every fire

With lightning strikes.

At the end of his resentment,

Sorrow comes over our Thunderstorm.

And the rain pattering over the land,

Are the tears from The Thunderstorm’s eyes.

by Erica 6D

The Rain

It pounds against the rooftops

Making puddles on the ground

Watering gardens

And filling up dams

With big loud sounds

It pours down

Making thunder clash

And lightning strike

Crying oceans of tears

Rain...a meteorite hitting the earth.

Binita, Dad and the Fan

This morning the
Fan caught Binita’s hair
Dad grabbed the scissors
And ran to get there.

Binita was stuck
Like a bird in a trap
She loved her long hair
So dad went to the tap.

The fan kept spinning
But there was no plug
Binita’s head kept turning
Until she looked like a slug.

Dad got a bucket
And spilled water on the fan
Binita screamed
As it went BAM!!!

Her hair caught fire
And was alight
Dad pulled her arms
With all his might.

When the fire was out
And she was saved
She looked at her hair
It looked like it had been shaved.

Dad smoothed out her bald head
It shone like a light
She put on a cap
To keep it out of sight.

Her dream had been shattered
Like a cracked egg
You can’t be a pop star
With a bald head.

She turned out to be famous
Because she had no hair
She sung like a nightingale
So now she doesn’t care.

ANTARCTICA

Albatross roam the skies but sometimes get caught on fishing lines

Near the coast leopard seals hunt penguins for food

Tearing after penguins an orca pursues them

After being attacked by the orca the penguins resume their fishing

Riding bikes across the sea ice would be fun and scary

Conservation is happening in Antarctica right now

The terrain is very rocky in Antarctica and extremely cold

I think Antarctica would be an interesting and exciting place

Crumbling icebergs could kill life if too close

Aroras happen at night during winter and would be cool to watch
