YEAR 4 WRITING

On Thursday I was lucky enough to be chosen to go to Eastwood Public School for a Technology
Workshop. At the workshop we had to take a picture of our face. Then using the computer we were able to make changes to the photo, for example, the colour. Using the mouse we were then able to add hand drawn features like beards and glasses to make crazy faces. We also took photos of different leaves and used the same technology to make changes to their appearance. I thought the workshop was fantastic and the technology was really cool.

On 7 May I went to a Gifted and Talented Maths Course at Gordon East Public School. Once there, we were put into groups to do some problem solving.  The problems got harder each time. After the course had finished, the teacher gave a certificate to everyone who took part in the Maths Course. I raced back to the car in the afternoon, happily showing the Certificate to Mum and Dad. I’m so grateful that Cherrybrook Public School chose me to go to the Gifted and Talented Maths Course. I solved maths problems co-operatively and had so much fun.

On 7 May I went to Mimosa Public School to participate in a Gifted and Talented workshop. My teacher’s name was Michelle. She was really nice. I danced for two hours but luckily I did get a few breaks. I loved it and learnt a lot of things

On Thursday 7 May I was sent to Hornsby South
Public School for the “Gifted and Talented” program. My subject was philosophy. Our teacher was Renae. Firstly we went to the floor and Renae showed us a world puzzle which was incomplete. She told us that everyone has a job or part to do in the world. This was the reason for the puzzle. Together we helped each other build the puzzle (we didn’t finish for it was too big). Next Renae told us a story which was written a thousand years ago by a Muslim Teacher. It told us about how humans are destroying the animal and plant society and how we could reduce this killing. The day was all about the world and the environment. At the end of the session, we made up a song about the environment. The parents came in and heard our song. The session was a lot of fun. I made lots of friends and I had a wonderful time. I would recommend it to everyone.

On Thursday 7 May I went to a Gifted and Talented Program at Hornsby South Public School. For my workshop I participated in an English group. At the start of the program, we did brainstorming on what people could discover. Then we wrote a narrative on Discovery. It was a great day and I had lots of fun.

On 7 May I went to Hornsby South Public School for the Gifted and Talented Enrichment Day. My subject was technology. For technology, I made a photo story. It may sound hard but it’s really easy. First I clicked on Photostory 3, then I imported some pictures. After that I chose what effects I wanted. Soon after that I talked into the microphone for each and every photo. Afterwards, I imported music then I rendered it. That’s all! I really enjoyed it. I also hope you give it a try because you can download the program for free!

On 7 May I went to Mimosa Public School for
Science. We talked about bugs and insects. We got to collect bugs and we brought them back to the room and put them under a big glass. It showed the bug up on the projector and we all got to look at the insect.  We found lots of different insects and lots of different things. At the end of the day we had to let the insects go. I had fun.

On 7 May I went to a Gifted and Talented
Mathematics Workshop at Mimosa Public School at Frenchs Forest. I was the only one in the mathematics workshop from my school. The
mathematics workshop teacher was a male teacher with a woman assistant. Together they told us different strategies to use when doing mathematics, for instance breaking it up or drawing things etc. I really enjoyed participating in the workshop as I met a lot of people and had fun.
