Our School has a Student Welfare Policy which provides for a caring atmosphere
for students, teachers and ancillary staff. The Policy has been developed
by teachers and parents of our School.
Security, happiness and safety are seen
as being of paramount importance.
Our students are very proud of their school and its achievements.
We consider it is every student's, teacher's and ancillary staff member's
right to experience happy and productive days at school.
At Cherrybrook Public School we have a policy of firm but fair discipline.
Cherrybrook Public School endeavours to provide a range of learning opportunities
to meet individual needs. The school is committed to the concept of integration,
recognising that students with disabilities are most often advantaged
when they receive quality educational programs in their neighbourhood
school.
The Learning Support Team plays a key role in ensuring that the responsibility
for meeting the needs of these students can be met.
We have the services of a School Counsellor to assist in assessing students
in the areas of performance, behaviour and learning.
Parents are contacted whenever it is thought necessary for a student to
consult the Counsellor. The Counsellor does not interview a student without
first contacting a parent of the child.
Where a parent feels it is appropriate for his/her child to be referred
to the Counsellor, he/she should inform the Principal of the concern.
