Music
All students have access to a 40 minute music lesson each week which incorporates singing, playing, notation and performing.

Reading Recovery
Reading Recovery is offered to selected students in Year 1 by a trained Reading Recovery teacher.

ESL
English as a Second Language (ESL) lessons are provided, by experienced staff, on a regular basis to students with a non-English speaking background. Basic Skills Test results indicate these students achieve at a rate in numeracy and literacy well above the state average.

Mandarin
All students in the school have a 40 minute community language lesson each week. By the end of Year 6 students are able, in Mandarin, to offer simple greetings, know colours, numbers, feelings, behaviours, relationships and carry on simple conversations.

Sport

Students in Years 3 to 6 are offered the opportunity to compete in many inter-school sporting events.
School teams (both girls and boys) participate in Netball, Soccer, Softball, AFL, Rugby League, and Cricket competitions.

Students represent the school in Cross Country, Swimming, Athletics and Field Events at District, Zone and State levels.

Fitness
All students participate in regular fitness activities. These sessions are organised by classroom teachers or on a grade basis.

Gym
A trained gymnastics coach from the Epping YMCA teaches gymnastics to students in Kindergarten to Year 2. Gymnastics develops balance, strength, flexibility and co-ordination and is included in the Personal Development, Health and Physical Education Syllabus.

Dance
A professional dance choreographer provides specialised tuition to students in Kindergarten, Years 1 and 2. Dance is a part of the Creative and Practical Arts Syllabus and Personal Development, Health and Physical Education Syllabus. During dance lessons students are led through the exploration of movement using the elements of dance.

Cyclical Sport
Students in Years 3 to 6 participate in an outstanding sport program on Friday afternoons. The Cyclical Sport Program allows students to participate in a wide variety of sports including: netta netball, gymnastics, self defence, oz tag, European handball, jazzercise, swimming, squash, dance, bowling, tennis, soccer, and racquet activities.

A wide range of sporting activities encourages students to:
• participate in sporting programs
• develop sporting skills
• improve their physical fitness
• develop recreational skills for later life

Students compete in District Swimming, Athletics, Cross Country and Ball Games Carnivals. Students are regularly selected to represent our District at Regional level and State level.

Students in Years 3 to 6 are divided into four house teams:
Currawongs - Green
Kookaburras - Yellow
Rosellas - Red
Wrens - Blue
