ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS A wide variety of academic enrichment and extension opportunities in addition to the regular class program are provided and promoted at Cherrybrook Public School including:
DANCE
These are all auditioned groups and they rehearse at lunch times and after school. They perform at concerts both within school and externally and compete in eisteddfods, achieving outstanding results.
DRAMA Our school has an auditioned drama group which meets one lunch time a week. They explore different forms of drama, from plays to improvisation. Selected members perform at the Hills Performing Arts Festival.
PERFORMANCE MUSIC
Bands
Choirs
Chamber Choir An auditioned group of 28 students from Years 3 to 6. They rehearse before school two mornings a week and perform at many events both within the school and externally. They participate in the Primary Choral Festival at the Sydney Opera House and the Schools Spectacular at the Sydney Entertainment Centre. The choir has a reputation for excellence and has been invited to perform at many special events and has been recorded for television.
Senior Choir An auditioned group of 40 students from Years 5 and 6. They rehearse once a week during class time and, in addition to in-school performances, they form part of the Combined Choir at the Hills Performing Arts Festival at the Hills Centre.
Junior Choir An auditioned group of 40 students from Years 3 and 4. They rehearse once a week during class time and selected members are chosen to perform in the Primary Proms concert at the Sydney Town Hall.
Year Two Choir All students in Year 2 are given the opportunity to sing in the Year 2 choir for either the first or second semester.
INTEREST GROUPS
Environment Club This popular group meets one lunch time a week and works under the guidance of teachers to help maintain and improve our school environment. They undertake gardening activities such as watering and weeding, promote school environmental activities such as Clean Up days, and learn about strategies to manage and improve the environment.
Chess Club The Chess Club meets one lunch time a week, and gives interested students the chance to improve their skills in this strategic game.
Scrabble Club The Scrabble Club meets one lunch time a week and provides an opportunity for Scrabble fans to increase their skills and improve their word power. |
